6th annual Windsor family reunion

This year we were able to go to my family reunion before Denver flew to Alabama for Officer training school.
Let the games begin! Jenn and Ned planned some fun games for us to play in team of 4 throughout the campout.
Here is General Windsor, leader of the family, (gen. just for the campout) having us take an oath. Here is Major Williams (for real) briefing us on the rules of the games and how to salute, etc.

Each team wore a different color band throughout the campout. One of the games was building forts with what resources we had to protect us from storms. We had a time limit. General Windsor chose the fort he thought would provide the most protection.

Team 4: My team . We won the best fort award. Not all the people were present in each picture. Some were busy taking care of kids and some were busy making dinner.

And Denver did the same game.

We played other games too, like an obstacle course, feeding pudding games, etc. It was tons of fun!
We went on the hike to see the ruins. We do this hike every year. It is a must at the reunion.

Mount Rushmore

We headed north to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore. It a beautiful drive. The evenings in SD were very cold, in the summer!
Here is a live bear. This is the first time I ever saw a bear in real life. This Bear Country U.S.A. had baby animals and baby bears.

The pictures say it all! We loved Mount Rushmore.

church history

During our homeless month, we stopped and saw church history sites. We stopped at Liberty Jail.

And went to the visitor's center in Independence where they had lots of things for kids to play with that are related to church history.

Then we went to Adam-Ondi-Ahman.

After that we drove to Kainesville and Winter Quarters. 2 things happened in Kainesville.

1. The Mormon Battalion left from here. 2. Brigham Young was sustained the prophet.

I have an ancestor that was in the Mormon Battalion. It was cool to hear their story along with the story of winter quarters.

In the visitor center we got to dress up like the pioneers and try to push a handcart. It was so much harder with a few rocks in the way.

All the church history was so neat to see. The kids did pretty good and the sister missionaries were great to keep things short and apply it to them.

summer 2010

On May 26th, the movers came and boxed up all our stuff. They did it pretty fast.

The next day the movers came to load up. They got there around 10am and didn't get done until 7pm! HELLO! I could've done it faster than that. We were annoyed because we had to clean the home and then drive to Ohio that day. I cleaned as the movers went and we were able to get away by 8pm. We drove (in 2 cars) to my sister's in OH and arrived at around 3am. We stayed and played with her family until June 5th. The kids had tons of fun playing outside. Sterling was intrigued with the eggs the chicken laid and cracked a dozen of them before I even knew what he was doing. This water float was a hit with all the kids.

My sister has a neighbor that has a goat that had 3 babies. We got to hold them. I think they were just a day old.

We traveled to another sister's house in OH and stayed with her family for a few days. Then we headed to Illinois to see our new home and to drop our Honda off at the AFB in long term parking until we could come back. This was the hardest part of our trip. All we wanted to do was to move in and stay in O'Fallon, but the tenant in the home we were going to rent wasn't out until July 6 so we couldn't move in until the 7th. So, away we went on the rest of our journey.

I have a lot to catch up on. Here is the first part of our summer and later I will post the next part of our summer (vacation and move) so stay tuned.

I wish I had more pictures with other ward members. It was a very emotional day for me. I hate saying goodbye and that was too much for me to handle.

Also, our last Sunday was my last ward council meeting so here we are.

Garrett lost a tooth

See the tooth, root and all. Garrett was biting on the trampoline net when one of the kids pulled. Out came the tooth and a ton of blood. OUCH!
