Brothers

Garrett and Sterling have tons of fun wrestling/boxing each other. It is their favorite thing to do together. They each wear a boxing glove on one hand. Usually in the morning before school they have a match. When Garrett leaves for school, Sterling cries so I have to take Garrett's place until he realizes that mom isn't that fun because she always wins :)

Maelie's koala bear project

Maelie had to make a project for school. She was assigned the koala bear. She was supposed to make her 3D animal and then give a report about it. Her finsihed project. The pink bow was her idea :)

We used boxes for the head and body. We put gray material all around it and then she painted the arms and ears gray. It was really cute and her presentation was good.

House centipede

This is a house centipede and I hate them! We've killed 2 large ones in our garage in the last 2 days. Yuck!

September 11th, the air show, and my birthday!

September 11th. Denver had to work all day at the air show on base. I was kind of bummed that he had to work on a Saturday, especially on this particular Saturday because it was my birthday. You only get a birthday on a Saturday every 6 years so I wasn't thrilled about him working. He left at 6am, but he was able to be with us at the air show at 1pm, but he had to stay on base in case anything happened.
But, it was a fun day because we were able to see an amazing air show!
After stopping at a garage sale, we got to the base around 10am. The show didn't start until noon so we walked around and went inside a couple of airplanes to take a tour. It was pretty cool.

The woman in yellow is our Relief Society President. She works on base as a civilian and takes pictures and videos and such for the base paper, etc.

Garrett asked when the movie was going to start. :) I had to explain that this show was live and would take place in the sky.

About an hour into the show, Denver joined us on our blanket on the grass. We took more video of the show than pictures so I don't have much.

While sterling did this.... The planes were really loud so Sterling didn't like it. All he wanted to do was to go home :( He loves airplanes so I thought he would love the show. The noise was just too scary for him.

It was a really neat air show. They re-enacted what would it would've felt like and sounded like to us if we had been at pearl harbor on December 7th. It would have been a scary thing to experience.

One of the highlights from the air show were the Blue Angels. They flew amazingly with so many tricks. Look at how close these planes were and they were going very fast too.

The night before the air show Denver and I watched air show crashes on youtube. So when these planes were flying straight at each other, it was very hard to keep my eyes open when they crossed paths. One knick of a wing and they would've exploded. But it was hard to not watch too, because they were amazing!

You can see why it was the highlight. Another highlight was the B52 stealth bomber flying over our heads. That is one cool looking structure. It can fly from the US to Iraq and back again without having to get more fuel. Neato. It was a fun, but really long day. We didn't get home until 7pm, the traffic getting off base was horrible. I think it took us over an hour to get off base.

Labor day weekend

Labor day weekend we did things around the area. On Friday (yes, Denver had Friday off too!) we went to Maelie and Garrett's school to eat lunch with them. They were excited for us to come. Their friends liked Sterling and Colson. Then on Saturday we headed to the Air Force base to go fishing at the lake. It is also a camping area too.
The lake wasn't the best, there was a lot of moss and twigs the hooks got caught on to, but it was only a 15 minute drive and secluded so it worked for us.

The weather was perfect! Not humid, a slight breeze, sunny, beautiful!

And Denver caught one fish on Garrett's spiderman pole. Awesome. All of the fish were small so back in the water they went.

When leaving the AFB, they have this beat up van near the exit with a sign to wear your seatbelt. I thought it was kind of funny, but a good reminder for the holiday weekend.

On Monday, we went to Eckerts farm to pick some apples from the orchards. It is less than 10 miles away from our home.

They weren't tall enough to see over the bodies. I thought it was so funny.

There was also an area to feed the animals. The kids got to feed these llamas.

This camel would get right up in your face. It is so used to people feeding it so it has no fear.

My favorite sign in the whole place. it's a weather guide. You can't see the tail very well, but it's right by Maelie. I love the last one.

We rode on one of these:

...to get to the apple orchards. While in the orchards, you could eat as many apples as you wanted. Once you got back to the farm, you paid for what you picked. We had tons of fun eating and picking apples.

We picked Jonathan apples and Golden delicious apples.

After eating and picking apples, we went back to the farm for a cool treat. Ice cream!

It was a fun weekend that went way too fast.
