1/2 Marathon and driving the Island

On May 1st on the island every year, the Portuguese have a half marathon on the island.  It's also a holiday for them.  Denver ran the half last year while I was 7 months pregnant.  I decided then that I wanted to do it the next year.   I did it!  It was a fun, beautiful run!

This man was in his 70s or 80s, I don't remember, and  he runs it every year. What an inspiration!

One of our friends that ran it last year was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and was going through chemo so a group of us ran it for her too.

I finished!  I think my time was 2:21:00. It was really windy that day. The guy who ran it last year and got first place, ran it this year and got first place again.  Because of the wind he finished 10 minutes, or maybe a little less, than last year and it wasn't because he wasn't in shape or hadn't trained.  It was a very windy day. I got 6th place over all the females.

These were all the people that ran from our branch.

Deacon was my biggest fan :)

Spirit house:
This is like the government projects.

We like to walk to the lighthouse.  It's a good mile walk and safe for the kids to run ahead because there are no cars :)

That is a very shaggy, stray dog.

I love this spot- the umbrella tables and the view.
