In May, Deacon was really sick throwing up for 2 days. We were really concerned because he couldn't keep anything down. He was very lethargic. Here he was during that time.
This is a picture of a huge cloud East of our house in Colorado Springs. I thought it looked amazing.
The incline: I think I posted about this, but I can't be sure, so here goes again. This is a mile straight up (stairs, and not your average house stairs, these were steep) with a 2000 feet elevation gain. It was killer! I only just learned about it a couple weeks before we moved, otherwise I would have done it again and again. It was a great workout. After the stairs, it was a 3 mile run down on switchbacks. So great!
When I drove with Erin to have our stuff delivered to our home in AZ, we met up with Kristen at her work. She taught me some things and I helped her work for a little while. She's really fast at what she does.
More of the pictures I took going up Pikes Peak, I know I posted about this earlier.
Garrett is such a good boy. We found him in the TLF reading his scriptures one evening. He is already on Helaman chapter 13 and only 9 years old! Good kid.
Last day of work in the Air Force.
Which means, last day of wearing ABUs.
While in Utah for Denver's implant course, we went to the Bean Museum and saw Mallory from Studio C. I told the kids, if we see Matt Meese, we will get a picture with him...
The next thing we know (a few minutes later) Matt came walking by so we asked him if we could take a picture with him. So cool!
The renovated/changed Monte L. Bean Museum. I used to take Maelie there A LOT when we lived at Wymount. It's very different now and has more natural scene shots. Like this bear attacking this moose. I have lots more pictures in this post later to come, but from my real camera, not phone.
While Denver was at his implant course, we (the kids, my parents, and Sandy's family) went to the Hill AFB Air Show. First time on base as a civilian. Waiting for the Thunderbirds in the heat. It got really warm, but Sterling and Colson had a ball catching grasshoppers.
Deacon sat in the stroller the whole time! This might have been right before his nap or right after. Don't remember. I just wanted to text Denver with this picture and show him all the "fun" he was missing.
This is a picture of a heart made from the plane.
Denver's last day of his implant course was Saturday so on Sunday we went to Sacrament meeting and then headed off for the 13ish hour drive. We normally don't wear crocs and flip flops to church, but I had already packed their shoes and the car was packed, so it had to do.
One stretch of highway the speed limit was 80mph so we went 85. During that stretch people in a passing car motioned for us to look up. Denver (I was driving) did and saw the car top carrier was open. We hurriedly stopped and saw that it had cracked in half!!! Luckily we didn't lose anything, which was sleeping bags, camping chairs and an air mattress (from our camping trip). We stuffed the excess stuff with the kids in the back and then dumped the carrier at a gas station in Panguitch. Crazy stuff.
Swimming-we go daily. Kids love it and they get so much energy out. It's wonderful.
We also had some monsoons since we've been here. We get quite a bit of rain here during Monsoons. It rained one time for 2 hours.
There is a river of water running down the street.
After Denver's first ( I think) day of work, Deacon came running to him.
Finally bought floaties.
One day, to kill time, we went to the bioshpere 2. It is not open for missions, but is open for tours. We didn't go through the tour at the time because it is a long tour and Deacon wouldn't have been easy for me with 4 other kids so we'll go with a few kids another time when Denver is home.
The play room/sun/Arizona room:
Garrett made this card for us-his parents. I thought it was really sweet.
Read this! So precious. Such a good boy.
Libraries are always a good place to start when you're new to an area. Neat book with a tree growing out or on top of it.?
I love this picture of the clouds covering the Catalina Mtns.
We had our palm trees trimmed, hoping it will help with cleaning the pool. So far we've seen a huge difference in the cleanliness of the pool.
Above: Before
Below: After
We had a total of 4 palm trees trimmed.
A better picture with Matt Meese (his eyes were open here).
More Bean Museum pictures:
There is a cool room dedicated to the wood workings and art of Boyd K. Packer (an apostle for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.) He has talent! No pictures unfortunately. We were too intrigued by his work. I guess you'll just have to see it for yourself :).
Deacon wasn't too sure about all the animals.
YUM!!!
The Liger above and below, the boys trying to be like the Hippo. Love Colson's face in this one.
We went to Suzy's for dinner. After dinner we went to a couple Geocaches with Melissa and Kyle.
Then they took us on the boat. We didn't have our swimsuits, but we still had fun on the boat. Once the sun went down the mosquitos came out like crazy and we zoomed back to the dock and into our cars. They were unforgiving!
Maelie borrowed Becca's suit and swam. Garrett just wore his b-ball shorts.
Garrett on the tube with Steven and Julianna.
A great view of Mt. Timpanogas.
We also played at Sandy's house while in Utah.
Our friends from dental school had just graduated from Oral Surgery and were headed up to their new home in Idaho so we met up with them for a couple hours while they were in Utah. It was fun to see the Griffitts again!
We went to Jenn's house and played with their bunnies. They breed and sell them. The babies are so cute :) I found out that I'm allergic to bunnies. What animal am I not allergic to?
And the chickens.
Later that day we went to Erins (yes, I have a lot of family in Utah-we stayed at my parents too. The only house we didn't go to this time was Lori's and that's because they had company and then they left for vacation.). Erin fed us dinner and then we did some really fun fireworks in the street.
After Utah we spent 4 days at our new home, unpacking the whole time! Then on Friday we headed up to Heber to spend the 4th of July with Denver's family. We had a really good time there. I didn't take my camera to the parade because I heard it was really wet and didn't want anything to happen to it. What I heard was true. Those who wanted to really got soaked. We didn't get to see most of the parade though because the horses, fancy cars and other people chose not to enter the water zone and turned off earlier. That was a bummer, but the kids had fun spraying other people.
It was relaxing and enjoyable and the fireworks were great! The kids had tons of fun with their cousins and Denver had fun catching up with his family.
We drove home from Heber on Sunday after church. Denver started work on Monday morning. His new 'uniform'.
More pics of the Bioshpere 2
The Catalina Mountains from our house. Love the view!
The kids spent some time painting their door hangers. I bought them a year ago and we finally got around to decorating them :)
Summer is almost over! I can't believe. Hopefully I will be able to blog more regularly when they are in school. I will have only 2 kids at home. Now to play the next 2 weeks before school starts!!!
