Germany with Jennifer

Yummy danishes and treats from the bakery.

Jennifer came to Germany to help me out for 2 weeks.  We planned for her to be here for the birth and help out after.  The storknesting coordinator, Silke, insisted that my husband come, but we didn't know when to book a ticket because we knew he could only come for a few days if he did come.  And at my first appointment I was told they won't give me an induction date, so we just planned on him not coming.  Silke pulled some strings and got me an induction date for the 20th of June so we booked Denver a flight on June 18th so he could be here for the birth.  Jenn got here on Friday, the 15th.

this is a man on stilts blowing up balloons for kids at the KMCC (the mall like building on base that houses the BX, a food court, banks, hair salons, and restaurants.

For lunch I took Jenn to get a Doner Kebab sandwich (still one of my favorite things in Germany-except yesterday I had banana milk and fell in love!  Delicious)

This is a kebab, almost all gone.  They're usually full of meat and very wide.  I think there is a picture later on of a full one.

After eating our kebabs, we had ice cream.  Jenn eating her spaghetti Eis.

Walking around Ramstein village

This is for Denver.  Maybe we can separate from the military and still live in Germany!
On Saturday we went to Nanstein Castle, the Castle near the Landstuhl Army Base.

A view of Landstuhl village from the castle.

These flowers were black.  They looked cool.

We went down this underground tunnel.  It was empty and spooky.  I think we ran back up because we got spooked.

 A cool tiny little car.

We ate at this place in Landstuhl.  We had pizza and schnitzel and split them.  It was delicious.
We got lost walking back to our car.  Lucky for us, we took a picture of the place we parked so we could show someone and they could help us back.  That's exactly what we did and we found our car again.

I love these purple flowers.  It reminds me of Horton Hears a Who.

These vans are so weird.  It's like a box.  I've seen so many of these vans, some are Mercedes.
We went to Aldi, our favorite store in the states.  Apparently it's Germany based.  Prices here are just as incredible as in the states.  I bought lots of cereal and shipped it to my home in the Azores.  Shipping is free APO to APO!    These apple things weren't the greatest.
These yogurt bites were very sweet-too sweet for us.
 Peanut M&M's-  so inexpensive.
A delicious cereal.  We bought other stuff too, but didn't take any pictures of them unfortunately.
Sunday we went to church.  I had contractions (one big one in each class.)  So, after church and after dinner, we decided to go for a walk around the base.  We walked and walked and walked.  I was having contractions the whole time, but nothing I couldn't walk through and I wasn't sure they were even going  to lead to anything more than just annoying contractions.  A picture of me before we set out on our walk.

39 weeks and little did I know, the last pregnant pictures before I had the baby about 10 hours later.
Another treat from Aldi's.  they have these in the Azores, but they are soooo good in the Azores and normal here.

Early Monday morning (1am) we went into labor and delivery, but I am saving that and those pictures for another  post.

 Another Aldi treat.

On Thursday Jenn went to the temple.  We, Denver and I went to the consulate to try to get a same day passport because we were told that it could be done.

Driving home we got a shot of the Mercedes Semi trucks.  There are many here.

I liked these Knoppers.  Very yummy.

Denver flew home on Friday.  Jenn and I just hung out the rest of the weekend.  The next week, we got highlights in our hair and then did some touring.  We went to my 2 favorite castles, Burg Cochem and Burg Eltz, but this time we had Deacon with us.

I didn't tour the inside this time.  Jenn did while I fed the baby.

Burg Eltz was easy to find this time.  We followed the directions on the paper instead of relying on the GPS and were able to follow the signs.

On the drive home, we saw this other castle, but didn't drive up to it.

Jenn flew home on Thursday.  She was a great help with the baby and great company after he was born.  She was an awesome birthing coach and I am soooo grateful she was here for the birth so I wouldn't be alone!  Thanks Jenn for coming and staying 2 weeks, a long time to be away from her family!
