Winter is on it's way!

This week started off rainy and cool and windy. These 2 pictures don't portray well the crazy winds and sideways rain that came down. I was about to go on a walk with the kids right before this downfall came. If you don't like the weather, wait an hour and it will be different. That pretty much sums up how fast the weather changes here.

We've been told this is what winter is like. It's rainy and super windy for a few days to a week and then you have some sunny days to go to the beach. Yes, in the middle of winter. The weather wasn't cold, just cool.

The kids modeling their new, much needed raincoats. One day I sent them to school without their raincoats because it was sunny, but on the walk home, the rain downpoured and they got soaked. They thought it was fun.
I took the 2 younger kids to the beach one afternoon before the other 2 came home from school. This time we prepared and dressed in swimsuits so the boys could get wet.

Once again, the first thing Sterling did was a sand angel. I wonder if this is going to be a habit every time we go. It's really cute.
But this time he told me his angel needed a head so he rubbed his head around the spot where a head should be. Too funny!
The sign at the beach said to be careful. That's because they didn't have a life guard. We were the only ones on the beach. Nice! Sterling only got wet up to his waist and Colson just got his feet wet. They had tons of fun playing in the sand. I read my book and enjoyed watching and listening to the waves.

This is just disgusting. We had soft tacos for dinner and he rubbed his grimy hands all over his hair and face.
On Thursday the kids had soccer pictures.

That little wet spot on Sterling is indeed pee. That's a normal look for him :D

This is Sterling's 'team'. They didn't break up the 3/4 year olds like they did the other ages. For this age it's more just teaching them the basics and having fun than playing against teams, etc.
On Friday we went to the annual 'build-a-boat' competition. Each squadron that wants to participate have 2 hours to build a boat out of cardboard boxes and duct tape. They have to row the boat down the pool and back without sinking and the fastest and you have to have 2 riders. I asked Denver why his squadron didn't do one. He said because they work for a living and don't get time off like the others. It was fun to watch, even though the Dental squadron wasn't in the line-up.

This team flipped over
These guys did really good. I'm not sure who won, though because we didn't stay for the whole thing.
The med group
These girls also did really good.
A sinking team
The walk home from the pool. I had to take some pictures of the crazy beautiful views. I'm starting to get used to them now, unfortunately. I hope I don't take them for granted.

That night, because it was Friday night and the kids didn't have school or church the next day, we decided to 'camp' out in the garage since it's still very empty. We took the mattresses off the kids beds and laid them in the garage.

They watched a movie in there first and then bed time. They didn't last long and all ended up in their own rooms, their choice. It was a fun thought.

Saturday we were able to watch conference. We watched from 4-6pm and then 8-10pm. Denver was able to go to priesthood Sunday morning with our branch at 9am. Then we had a potluck with our branch members. At 4pm we watched the first Sunday session as a branch together and now I have to go to watch the 8-10 session. So far we have LOVED conference and have learned so much. We're ready to read them again and to apply the things we have learned and felt and heard in our lives. goodbye, till next time.

Wow! I love the pics. Your new place looks absolutely amazing! I am so jealous and thinking that it can't get much more brown anywhere than Yuma, AZ. Other than not having all of your belongings with you, it looks like everything is going well and you are having fun. I am so glad! Tell the family hi for us!
