Across the country

At the end of June and beginning of July we loaded the van for a cross country drive. Our first stop was Ohio where we celebrated Ned's graduation from OB residency. It was nice to be there for that special occasion. Then on the road again. The next 3 days we spent in the car driving to Southern UT. the kids travelled very good.
We stopped in Colorado for a night and stayed with John and Jolena and family. No pictures. :(
Southern UT was where my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary reunion was held. Every single sibling was there and it was AWESOME! I loved being there with all of my family! They came from all over (OH, PA, TX, OK, UT, AZ, CO and CA)
Nizhoni campground:

I found Sterling with the dogs alot playing in the water.

We took the annual hike to the cave ruins. The tunnel was a favorite part of the hike.

Girl cousins. I hardly saw Maelie at all. She was always playing with her cousins. It was fun to have so many cousins to play with.

My dad, Denver, and Sterling with a beautiful view in the background.

Cool kid!

There was a lot of sand volleyball going on and a lot of horse shoe competitions.

One of the evenings we all sat around the camp fire and played a 50th Anniversary game of Jeopardy. We then played a Wheel of Fortune game to present them with their gift from the family-an Alaskan Cruise.

Doing crafts.

It poured on us. We made these makeshift shelters so we could still be together and wouldn't have to go into our individual tents. Here we also played homemade family feud.
I was SO sad to see it end. I had so much fun visiting with my family members, some of which I hadn't seen for 3 years! It was definitely an amazing reunion and we were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage with my wonderful parents!

After the reunion campout we headed down to AZ to stay with my parents for a couple of days.
Maelie and Laura holding the twins.
After spending time in Payson, we drove to Heber for Denver's family reunion. We relaxed, played games, and enjoyed family.

Playing ball in the backyard.

She looks like a pro.

While there, we were able to visit with our good friends that moved from Philadelphia to AZ after graduation. Maelie was reunited with her good friend Lydian...

...and Garrett with Josie.

We went to Taylor to see more of Denver's family, including his grandparents. His uncle has horses and let all the kids take a turn to ride them.

At the 4th of July fireworks.

At this point we had driven over 3000 miles! Now for the trip home. We took it alot slower and made more stops to enjoy family and the sights. Only 2500 miles to go.
The Albuquerque temple.

We stopped in Amarillo, TX to visit with my brother and his family. They took us to Cadillac Ranch, which I have to say was pretty cool. A bunch of old Cadillacs lined in a row that anyone and everyone can spray paint on. We left our "Philly was here" mark.
The kids and the cousins.

And then to the Big Texan...

The biggest rocking chair I've ever seen. Isn't it true that everything is bigger in Texas?

We went fishing at a nearby park.

On the road again. A lot of this went on. zzzzzzzz
and a lot of this. waaaaaaahhhhhhhh

We stopped in Oklahoma to stay with another brother and his family. We went swimming and the boys played volleyball there. No pictures again! :(
Driving through St. Louis, a possible future place of residence for next year after graduation. I love this picture and I really liked the city as we drove through it.

We stopped at Carthage Jail...

and then on into Nauvoo. It was really fun to see church history sites. It strenghtens your testimony to be in such a special place.

The mansion house where Joseph and Emma Smith lived.

The brickyard...

They have an area in Nauvoo where you can play their games and dress up like pioneers.
Playing stick pull was a must. We were able to be there when Jenn and Ned were. It was nice to have family there with us. Garrett and Michael take a turn at it.

Guess who won?

The beautiful Nauvoo temple! I would've love to go inside, but we didn't have a lot of time.
We went to a show in the visitor center that was tons of fun. We also got to see the pageant, which was awesome. It places number 1 on church pageants I've been to (which is only 3-Az Easter pageant, Hill cumorah pageant, and now Nauvoo pageant)
We drove home after visiting Nauvoo. We had such fun driving all the way across the country. I am very grateful we were able to go as a family. So many things kept getting in the way that were posing huge problems for us to go as a family.
I would do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks to everyone for letting us stay with you!
